Need Help odd "land line" issue

okay when i sms/text message one of my contacts (coincidentally someone from EQ) i get this error:

when that contact sms/text message me all is fine and i can reply. so for some reason i can't initiate the sms'ing (i am pretty sure this person is not messing with me :}

anybody ever seen/had this before ? and more importantly, is there a "fix".. i already deleted and re-create the contact. all looks the same as for other contacts in Outlook/Q contact list.

this is all i Google came up with about the number in the "sent" box.

TIA.

Firstly, I don't have a fix.

But as a start this is obviously not YOUR phone or the contact on your phone since it only happens with this one phone number. It seems it might be a glitch in the Verizon server(s) that handle texting for the receiving number. They obviously somehow think the # is a landline on a send.

Does anyone else experience this with this persons number?

Although that wouldn't explain how it works when you reply. Doesn't seem like reply would be handled any different on Verizon's end than send. If it is possible, I would look there first like calling customer service. I am sure you have already thought of this but thought I would just throw it out there.

Definitely trying to text this person from another Q would be of interest.

PM me their number and I will try it if you want. I promise I am not evil or anything.

I saw this problem a lot in the ISP database side of things. Or errors like this, anyways. It was usually the cause of a corrupted database entry. Whether its on your service provider's side or his, I couldn't say. You'd probably just have to troubleshoot to see.

But somewhere in some database it probably had his phone number listed as a land line before he got that # and its never been fully converted over somehow.

Not real specific answer but since I've never worked on a cell phone company's database, I really couldn't say what it would be for sure.

Are you sure your friend isn't forwarding his calls to a landline?

Interesting...

I know that Sprint allows you to send text to landline for no additional charge...

From the sprint site:

"Sprint PCS subscribers can send a text message to a landline phone at standard domestic text messaging rates! Text messages, which are converted to voice, can be sent to any landline phone in the United States, Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands.
When the person answers his or her home phone, they will "hear" the text message you sent and can reply back to you with one of the available responses. You will also receive a text message on your Sprint PCS phone when a response is sent back to you."

Just some info...

Matt!

ok people lets add to the mystery!

i sent an MMS to my friend last night and he said he got it but from some number with an area code of 513 (i think thats florida) and he texted them back asking 'who the hell are you and why are you texting me pictures of 'The Prudential Center'?

so needless to say something is seriously F'd up!
