no more outlook on vista?

it seems that windows vista has changed Outlook express to Windows mail and I sync fine,via the windows mobile device center, but it does not allow me to sync my contacts and my calender from my phone any ideas on how I can get it to notice windows mail as outlook?

I like the way the windows set up so far but the compatability of older stuff is kinda frustrateing my 10 year old sound card isn't supported anymore . bye good old soundblaster live 5.1 its been fun.

Outlook Express NEVER had a calendar function. You were using Outlook. Reinstall Outlook on Vista and you'll be good to go.

Windows has come with an email program for many years. It was first known as Exchange (Which has now become something more), then Outlook Express, now Windows Mail. To get tasks, calendaring, notes and most importantly sync'ing with a WM phone you need Outlook.

I instaled office like 6 years ago in college on this comp and never used it except when I was doing term papers and lost the install disk =/

I'm still pretty shure that outlook express contacts linked with the Q though maybe not the calender but the contacts are the important part for now.
maybe they will come out wth a wireless device manager update that will merge the windows mail *crosses fingers*

I'm pretty sure you're wrong about Outlook Express contacts syncing. While there were some programs that allowed that, ActiveSync doesn't see Outlook Express by default.

Maybe you exported your contacts from Outlook Express to Outlook somehow....

Why would they? That's one less reason to have to buy Office.

MS is offering 60 day office trials yet even with outlook the contacts wont sync Id go pay 10 buks for outlook jus to get my Q to sync properly again. the trial is supposedly a full version for 60 days but I cansync my Q but the contacts and stuff dont show in oulook.
dont you love new peratng systems and pograms.
