Newbie, sync freezing

Already did a search and tried what was posted, Ok i just got the Q and installed a 2gb minisd card and it shows up as 1.86 which is fine. I sync with the computer successfully and i can explore the phone and the storage card fine. I sync with media player 10 & 11 and i transfer a song to the card and it freezes medial player and the Q. Buttons on the Q are locked and i have to remove the battery and power on to get it functional again. When i try to access the card it says that it is corrupt and if i would like to search for files from the previous sync. I say yes and it finds the files and adds them fine. I open media player on the Q and update library and it freezes media player on the Q. What am i doing wrong? i format the card through a card reader on the pc and access and play music from the card on the pc fine, is there anything special i need to do? thanks in advance for the help.
