Default Newbie here - 18mo user- Can't unlock my Q

UGH. Phone contract is up in the fall and my Q decides to freeze up after a minor coffee incident late last week. Took a day or so to stop working. Keyboard went all kerflewy (push "s" and "*" would show, that kinda thing).

Keyboard is now pretty much back to normal. I can still answer it, even put the caller on speaker, BUT I cannot unlock it.

I can go from the main screen to the password screen, punch in the password but when I hit "unlock" NOTHING happens. (The "unlock" button DOES work when I go from the main screen to the password screen).

I love my Q but can get a much better deal right now by changing carriers for a BlackBerry. Verizon store techs couldn't unlock it, so I figured I'd try you guys before I gave up on my Q. Thanks, in advance, all.

(btw - I did search other posts - and tried, without luck, My Mobiler and Pocket Controller-Pro. I'm screwed, huh?)

if you don't have insurance on your phone you could always try to take the phone apart and clean the board and key dome with 93% alcohol. but it has to be 93 or higher. the phone is actually pretty easy to take apart. there are four screws, and the internals are pretty simple. Just be careful so you don't tear the mylar that connects the screen to the board.

Is your data backed up? Now might be a good time to Activesync it to outlook. If you have a Q9 you are out of luck though as the password gets entered on the phone instead of the pc.

Default Unbelievable!

Well, now I'm feeling a bit foolish.

I hadn't known how to do a hard reset/master reset and didn't think I could do it without getting "into" the phone (thankfully I did have everything I needed backed up).

I just tried it - hello Moto! Unreal. NOBODY at Verizon ever mentioned trying that (I talked to just a few people there trying to get this figured out). I'm so pissed. I just got a new Q9c FedEx'ed last weekend - without the benefit of my "New every 2" deal (missed it by 5-weeks and $150). Grrr. And: I really like my old Q...I don't know how people ever get used to those velvet-poster-like keys on the 9c. *shudder* LOL

Thanks very much everyone for the assistance!!

Skipping it like a stone at a guy getting lippy - I could see that! It's just the right size for the perfect skip! LOL

But, I have to agree with "kogama" - I wouldn't want to do that to my Q! The new black one OR my old Silver! I think in almost 2-years I've dropped it once, maybe twice. I baby the stupid thing. Always tucked safely in its case, in my bag when it's not in my hands.

Except when I spill coffee, unfortunately.
