Default New Verizon Purchase - Recommendations

Hi everyone,Well it its that time again. My contract with Verizon is up and I am sadly ready to replace my trusty Q.I am committed to Verizon due to a Corporate agreement and overall I like them, but they are expensive.Well my preference is to stay with some version of the Q.I have some software I can use,Papyrus,Fascade, etc.Accessories which I can us,power cords , cases etc. Where should I go and what should I do?Is certain Q's better than others?I can go to another brand if the the units are that much better.I am considering a Blackberry because of the email programs they have.Any input would be great!!Thanks and have a great day!!George

I am looking at the i760 or xv6800 from VZW, I want the upgrade to a WM Professional instead of Standard. Although I might make the switch to AT&T for the Tilt, and if I get really desperate to save money (SERO) I might get the Mogul from Sprint; that is if it is true that the GPS and EV-DO Rev A update is coming tomorrow.

As far as the Q9m, it may be a worthy upgrade to the current Q, but I think you get more for your money with one for the other phones (wi-fi is the main one for me, I'm always around a hot-spot)

I just upgraded to the Sprint Mogul and came back to my Q. The Mogul is the same as the XV6800, and very similar to the AT&T Tilt. Let me tell you why I've decided to stick with the Q:

Windows 6.0 Professional was very nice, but it just had some ease of use features that just make the Q easier to use. Don't get me wrong, some things were easier because of the touchscreen, but things like Profiles is missing (which doesn't seem like a big deal at first, but it sure becomes a big deal, especially if you've got a few different ones set up like I do).

The battery was also a big issue. To put an extended battery on the Mogul would have made the phone WAY too thick. (Sprints Q9c comes standard with the extended battery, I should note). A Q with extended battery is still thinner than a Mogul, XV6800, or Tilt, and gets quite a bit longer batter life (a must for someone like me who works in a building with terrible signal strength which saps battery horribly. My Mogul was dead by early afternoon with little or no use).

Also, the need to slide out the keyboard became VERY frustrating. It was cool at first, and then became a headache. I longed to just have my keyboard there the way it was on my Q.

As far as BlackBerrys go, the Curve (which is about the hit Verizons stores) and the 8830 (both Spring and Verizon have it) are very nice. But they do not have all the cool 3rd party software out there that Windows Mobile devices have. I also have found that my Q running my email programs is FASTER than a Blackberry in getting and sending emails (Me and my girlfriend, who has the Blackberry 8830, have done side by side comparisons).

I got my son the Q9c (Verizons version is the Q9m), and it is super nice. It feels WAY better in the hand than my Q does (feels more "solid"), and I really do like the new keyboard. It runs WM6.0, but still functions almost exactly like the 5.0 on the original Q.

So, from someone who just upgraded to Sprints top of the line and went back to his Q, I would just tell you to think long and hard before having to go through the hastle of having to return a phone you found out wasn't all it was cracked up to be...

Just recounting my experience over the past 2 weeks. I will tell you that I probably would have LOVED my Mogul if I hadn't been using a Q for the past year and gotten used to it.

Yep, I decided to jump ship and go to Sprint, deal with billing and cs issues as they come, it still worth the $30/month everything included plan. Who knows maybe I'll get lucky. Plus I save $70 off my VZW bill.

As for the phone recomendations I'd say if you're going to stik with VZW seriously take a look at the Q9m and the i760. If you can wait to upgrade there are going to be a few phones releases later (HTC Iris, Samsung Glyde, and Touch).
