I just got my Motorola Q from Alltel and I cannot figure out how to get a home screen that i downloaded from Kooldezign.com into the Q. This is all new to me I can see the file on my desk top and when i explore on activesync I go through the motions to get to the folder called home on my device but how do i get the file from the desktop to the activesync folder to install it.
its a simple copy and paste...if you explore the phone through active sync go to the \application data\home folder and paste the xml file and image files in to that directory. then go to settings on your q--> homescreen and scroll through til you see the one that you just put over there and your all set
I have tried the copy and paste feature and I can copy the file no problem but when i get to the home screen folder and open it the paste feature is not available.
hmm...you can try to drag and drop it rather than copying..
what version of active sync are you running? perhaps an upgrade to version 4.5 might change that
I downloaded activesync 4.5 I had version 4.2 and i said yes to overwrite ther old version and i now have pc 1 and pc 2 as far as active sync is concerned now what the heck did i do???????????
Drag and drop did not work either
I have a small business and I bought this phone to help me not have to carry my laptop back and forth just for the email and contacts!!!!!
pc 1 and pc 2 means that you created 2 different connections between the laptop and Q....when your Q is hooked up look to see which one is connected pc 1 or pc2 and you can delete the one not connected....do do that go to file and delete mobile device...it shouldnt matter which you delete really since it seems like you just created this new one with the updated version. as long as your emails and contacts are in outlook they will always sync over...
I made it so that i only have one device syncing up with the PC but back to the original question i just dont know how to use the activesync to add new things to the phone, I have the email and all that set up i just want to add a new home screen and cannot figure it out.
BTW thank all of you for helping an old lady that is still in the 70's playing with new technology!!!!!
I dont know how to use the activesync to begin with. I looked at the new user guide on this site but I didnt find how to actually use it. I found how to add a ringtone but didnt try it because I can only handle one thing at a time but if i wanted to add anything to it how would i go about it maybe if you can walk me through getting anything into the home folder it would help
