Default .NET compact framework 2.0 install?

I have been trying to install .NET Compact Framework 2.0 on my Motorola Q so I can install SMS Threader. I have been told to download it from microsoft HERE http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...DisplayLang=en

BUT I CAN ONLY DOWNLOAD A .MSI FILE. How can I find the .cab file which will install on my Q??? Anyone else have my problem or know how to fix?

Thanks!!!

Here is a link to the NETCFv2.wm.armv4i.cab For Windows Mobile 5 for Pocket PC.

http://www.binaryfish.com/WinCE/Soft...o/download.php

It is at the bottom of the page. Good luck.

You may already know this, but you're supposed to install the MSI file from a PC. It will unpack the CAB file and install that on the Q using ActiveSync.

Unless you don't have access to a PC, I wouldn't use some third-party download.

I am very unfamiliar with this sort of stuff, so you are probably right when you say not to download from a third party.

I did however download it and the program worked perfectly. This third party is also a reputable website.

Default Third-Party Downloads

Well, depending on the site offering the download, you don't know how that software got put there or whether it's a Trojan Horse (like many of the music sharing sites that were home to viruses). Plus, unless Microsoft specifically allows redistribution of the CAB file, offering it for download is a Copyright violation.

That's why I don't recommend using third-party sites for things like that. But....

I hadn't checked them out before (for the reasons given above). The name also sounded like one of those random file archive sites (think fishing for binaries ).

However, I just visited the site and it seems they develop mobile software, so I've added them to my list of software sites that I'll link to from my Web site. Thanks for the tip.

However, I'd still get the .NET CF directly from Microsoft unless you don't have access to a PC.

I am trying to instal the the on demand but I must first install .net. I try to install it to the storage card but after it reboots and I try to run on demand it wants to install .net again. Is it possible to install it to the storage card?

Probably not a good idea. It will only put a couple of mb on you Q. It's not actually 25 or so mb's.

Not sure why it won't work for you. I have .NET installed on my SD card with no problems.

I have the cab on my card, but when "installing" I put it on the machine. Works fine.
