I am not a developer, but I was under the impression that it needed to be installed on the phone. You can move the install files to the card but install on the phone unless the programs you are running are also installed on the card. Of course, that was my assumption I could be wrong.

There was an update to .NET CF 2.0 back a couple of months ago, it now allows installation to a card with no issues.

Regardless, .NET CF 2.0 programs are garbage and not worth their slowness, imo.

likely not directly related to my new Q... but I would like to install the .NET framework on my mobile to use additional/cool apps.

When attempting to install the msi file on my PC I get an error stating that in need to have C# installed. The file I am trying to install is (MicroFrameworkSDK.MSI)

I may be grabbed the wrong file?

Yep! You have the wrong one.. the file you should install is NETCFSetupv2.msi. You can find it here ...
You'll have use Windows and ActiveSync to install.

FWIW, I install .net 2.0 in my Axim and it crashed! I had to reload everything. I don't think i'll be installing it on my Q. It also takes up too much space.

I have had no problems with the .net cf 2.0 installation .. in fact I have installed and uninstalled it multiple times. You can install it on the SD card if you want but some apps like Pocket Express require it to be in the main storage space.

I've found at least one program (Handmark PocketExpress) that doesn't like .Net on the storage card, so I've moved it to main memory.

Something that's so tied in with the OS probably should be in main memory.

There might be a different cab file for PPC devices. I doubt the one for the Q would work on a PPC.

I don't really understand why, but when I installed the threader on the storage card it didn't work properly.. the program couldn't find a bunch of files. So i reinstalled it on the device, and it works fine now.
