Default Need help -- mouthpiece not working

My phone started behaving strangely today. I bought a Motorola Black a few months ago and haven't had any major problems until today.

My phone's mouthpiece has stopped working for calls. I can make and receive phone calls and can hear the other person, but they cannot hear me. I look and my mute is off, the volume is all the way up. No bluetooth of any kind is turned on. I tried turning the phone on and off a few times, put it in the charge, but it stays the same.

The strange thing is that my phone still can take voice commands and can do voice memos just fine, so I know that the mouthpiece didn't mysteriously break.

Everything else works fine on the phone: internet, calendar, other programs. Have any ideas on what this might be?

Are you stuck in headset profile?

I would suggest that you take it back to your carrier. The microphone may have failed. It is also possible that something has gotten in the microphone hole. Unfortunately, there is no way for you to check other than looking in that very small hole.

Neither of those suggestions account for the fact that the poster said Voice Recognition and Voice Notes work.

If it's not user error, maybe whatever routes outgoing audio to the cellular radio failed. Before returning it, I'd pull the battery and try again. If that didn't work, I'd try a Master Reset to see if that fixed things.
