My recent insurance claim - Motorola Q Forum

I see TONS of questions on here about people wanting to know about insurance claims, so I figured I would share my own story.

The Q that I bought off E-Bay about 8 months ago had started acting up. I was having to MR constantly, the soft keys were staring to come up, and then the charging port basically stopped working.

I started my claim by heading to phoneclaim.com. The survey they had me fill out declined my claim, so I gave them a call and the lady changed some stuff and got me going without much trouble. I asked what phone I would be getting, and they told me that they still had the silver Q, so no free upgrade, but oh well.

After forking over $50, I got an e-mail from DHL with my tracking info. I watched the phone bounce around the next day, and then vanish for almost a week. aparently DHL doesn't deliver to Wyoming, and USPS takes over.

I got the phone today, a week later, even though they said it was next day service. I popped it on the charger, activated it, and set it up. Whole process was easy and quick.

I ended up calling them to ask about my extended battery and cover, they said to just send the broken phone back without them. All in all, aside from the shipping time, I think it was easy and the people I talked to were helpfull and friendly.

I just purchased a Q from eBay and am a little worried about the quality. So if it breaks you just file a claim on the website and they send you a new one and then you send yours in? That sounds too easy.

That's how mine worked from Verizon Wireless through their 3rd party insurance company.

I didn't even have to pay in advance, I gave the UPS driver a cashier's check for $60 and had my new phone 2 days later. They let me keep the new & old chargers & belt case too. I only had to send back the broken phone & old battery.

Same with Alltel. They don't even handle the claim, Assurion does. You can actually upgrade your phone through the insurance company, if you don't have a problem with conning a company that takes your money and doesn't even do anything for you.
