Arrow My Motorola Q randomly shuts off

Hey all, new to this board.

Something is wrong with my moto q. At times, it will randomly just go dead even though the battery is fully charged. When it goes dead, Ill open the battery cover and take out the battery and put it back in and it starts up again.

Has this happenend to any of yall? Is it the battery or the Q?

Its the moto q for the sprint network.

Thanks in advance

This has happend to a lot off people.

First off, before you decide your Q is defective, try it bare. Do a hard reset.

While the phone is off press and hold the action key for 5 seconds. while holding the action key press and hold the end key. this will prompt for a master reset.

this will reset and clear everything on your phone. make sure you back up first.

After running your phone bare for a couple of days, if it still persist, take it back because it is defective.

I had a phone that did this, random restarts, but once i did a hard reset it fixed everything.

If the problem is fixed after a hard reset then it is a program problem or something that you have done.

I'll give it a shot. I don't have additional software installed. Will that matter? I know software sometimes disrupts some smart phones.

So I wake up this morning and I hit the home key and I got no response. So I'm "here we go again.." I end up hitting the power button and it turns on to the sprint logo then all of a sudden it turns dead.

The thing is, I purchased this phone from ebay just a few days ago. I looked at what the seller put through out the auction and he labeled the phone "Brand New" and no where did I see "Sold as is". I emailed him and asked if I was entitled for refund, which I think I should be. Havent got a response yet.

Then, I plug in the to the charger and it goes on. So it was the battery that went dead. I know I know, the battery sucks. And yes, I jumped to conclusions. Still, the phone randomly died on me twice.

Im still running on it bare so I really dont know if the phone is defective.

If Im entitled for my refund Im still probably going to send it back and get the phone from the retail store. Therefore I can get the phone insured.

BTW, say my Q starts to function well after a hard reset. If I synch it back to get my contacts and other info, will it go back to acting defective?

Just dont do a "restore" through a program like sprite and you wont have that issue. Reloading contacts from outlook wont do any harm.

as far as the whole "my action button wasn't working" thing...

that happens to me sometimes...its probaby 2 or 3 times a week...i restart the phone and then it works...i've never thought of it as defective...any smart phone or pda phone you get is going to have problems...i don't know if you ever had a pda phone before...but the biggest mistake i've run into as far as my customers go is when i sell a treo or a Q or some sort of smart device to a customer who has never had one. I always let them know its going to have issues...thats just how pda phones go. most people don't understand that which isn't their fault...as far as most people are concerned...phones shouldn't have problems...but its a different kind of animal...know what i'm sayin?

Yeah, these are small computers with cellular radios. Not phones.
