Question My Motorola Q makes a buzzing noise and backlight stays continuously on when charging

I just got my Q last week and theres a couple of quirky issues that I am noticing. First, the backlight on my phone continuously stays on when I am charging the phone (showing the battery indicator). This happens both when the phone is off and charging and also when the phone is on and charging. I also hear a rather audible buzzing sound coming from the phone whenever the backlight is on. Even when I am using it (while the backlight is on.) Is this normal? I tried adjusting the power management settings, as I have everything on "1 minute". However, nothing works.

Wow not sure. The buzzing is not normal, however some people have reported it. I suppose it is a preference as to whether you return it or keep it. Mine does not buzz. As for the backlight, double check that you have the setting for AC set to one minute. There is two backlight settings, one on battery and one on AC. If that is set correctly and it still stays on, I would say you have a bit of a bug and you may want to try a reset.

Hi Papaprem, my phone makes the same buzzing sound when the backlight is on. Here's the ironic thing though, I have a watch pedometer with the same coral blue backlight as the Q - whenever I turn the watch light on, it makes the same buzzing sound as the Q. Weird... I also had a mini clock with the same blue backlight, and whenever I turned the light on, it would make the exact buzzing sound as my watch...and like the Q...

I get the same thing, on both my Q and alarm clock (its much more annoying on the alarm clock, and that will definitely be replaced) but I think it has to do with backlighting the keyboard. Not really concerned, I have selective hearing. Plus, if you are out for beers in a loud pub, you won't hear it anyways.

Cheers

actually I have tried at least 10 if not more moto Q, and they all have the buzz sound, some are louder and some a less. Some of you guys may be more sensitive than others, like my brother, his ear is very sensitive and he can hear the Q's buzz from far away and I however have to be pretty close to the Q to hear it. but like I said before some Q are louder than the others, my Q is quieter than my brother's too, but it took me a while to find a better quieter Q.

I'm interested to get feedback on the backlight-when-battery-is-charging issue. I have my setting set to 1 minute and it still stays on the entire time it's charging. Is this normal??

I am not sure which Q you have, the black or the silver. Personally I don't think it's normal as my Q doesn't do that (black Q), however I remember my silver Q when it was first released by vzw, suffered something very similar, the backlight wouldn't turn off no matter if it's on charger or not, meaning when it's not charging the backlight would still stay on thus draining the battery super quick.

I had the same problem with the backlight on my Q. I removed the battery and haven't had the problem in about a week. You might give it a try.
