My battery went bad - question...

Have had my Q around 6 weeks, I use it a lot with it on the charger, like talking to people with my BT headset, or on the net tethered. Today, my screen went white, I rebooted, same issue, then it wouldn't even turn on for 30 minutes, after that it would power on but never get all the way on. Took it to the Verizon store, it's the battery. I'm wondering if I just got unlucky with the battery, or there is some issue with using it for long periods while charging. I do know when I pull it off the charger it's very very warm, almost hot on the back, which can't be good for the battery life. On my old Sprint phone I'd do the same thing with hours and hours a day of talking while it was charging, but I never had a battery issue.

ideas, thoughts, suggestions?

I think it's just a bad battery. I used to have a similar issue with battery getting burnign hot on my old Moto V120 phone.
Having said that, don't they usually recommend at least periodically going through a full charge/discharge cycle to maintain optimal battery performance?

I run my battery dead often I do think I charge it too much, between voice calls and tethering my phone is probably on the charger 7 hours a day while in use, which can't be good. I generally leave it on when I go to bed, because I hate waking up from doing nothing and having a bar gone.

interesting thing, I woke up this morning and the battery seems to be working again, weird.

another interesting thing, I did the software upgrade and my phone was FUBAR. The Verizon store bairly got it to work after about 1.5 hours, and I think it's back to the original firmware now, and of course I didn't fully read the disclaimed and thinking all the update deletes is any installed applications, I lost all my contacts. What a hassle!

Same exact thing happened to me yesterday. My phone was dead in the water, couldn't power it up, wouldn't even charge. It was about as good as all those unpaid bills on my office desk. Took it to Verizon, they put an extended battery in and it powered up just fine. Sales rep put my battery back in and it powered up. Sales Rep said it was the battery, and ordered me a replacement.

Looking for common threads..

This happened to me after these two things changed on my unit

1.) I upgraded to the new Motorola software

2.) I installed and ran Sprite Backup and scheduled a daily backup.

May not be related but if someone else has seem a similar pattern, it would be interesting
