AS of right now I am not planning on getting the data plan.
I have been reading these forums all the way back like 10 pages trying to figure this out completely but have yet to do it. Is it possible to get email to send to my phone through sms so I can bypass the data usage? I am planning on using gmail so I am guessing this might not be an option?
That is about my only question I think..
Ah is it possible to send pix messages without using the data plan, can I get text/pix plan like I have on my current phone? I really dont send that many so it might not be a big deal.. around 5 a month if even.
What he said. Also, I can't imagine having the Q without the data plan. For all the crap that I use it: Googlemaps, Event finder, News, Email, Remote Desktop, AOL/MSN Chat, Google videos, XM radio.... can't imagine not having it.
Ditto, I cannot imagine the Q without the data (using it now). Data plan is not a long term commitment. At least start out with unlimited data plan an check you usage after say 3 months. Could save you lots of money.
Technically I guess you could do #1 if you forward your gmail to <cellnumber>@vtext.com. You can send email via text message too. Can't remember exactly how but I think you put the email address in the subject. You'd have to search. You can send text messages to landlines too. they automatically get converted to a voice message. Better just to get the perkb data plan and use it sparingly.
Are you saying that you cannot text with this phone, without the $45/month data plan? I am considering this phone, but really dont want to spend $45/month to browse the internet.
