Default Keypad won't light up

Lately I've noticed the keypad not lighting up when I am using my phone. In daylight this is not a problem, but in the dark it would be nice if it worked. Every now and then it will light up for a few seconds, then goes away and I'm left with nothing. I have searched the boards and can't find much to help me. My phone is a regular Q and I know absolutely nothing about registry editors. I tried uninstalling candlelight, but that did nothing. Anybody else have this problem or know of a solution?

I've been having the same problem. Noticed it the past 2-3 weeks. Won't light up at all. I have the regular Q and that I know of can't find a software fix or edit for it. I've seen some post relating to the newer Q's and their "smartlight" that isn't working well. I think the light may just be burned out. I've been thinking about taking it to Sprint to see if it's something they can service.

I just disable the smart backlight. start-settings+power management.

The regular Q doesn't have the smart-backlight feature. That's on the newer ones.

I read a bunch of stuff saying that Candlelight is what can cause it, but I've had Candlelight on my phone the whole time and just recently the keypad stopped lighting up. I did a hard reset anyway since I don't know how to change registry settings, but that didn't work. I guess I'll be stuck taking it into Verizon.

I never had candlelight or anything like that installed, mine just quit working. I'm sure I'll have a hard time convincing the Sprint techies though and they'll give me some run-around that its not covered by the insurance.

Yeah that's why I've been searching for a solution elsewhere before having to go talk to Verizon. Especially since I bought the phone from an outside source and not Verizon directly.

Sprint will replace it providing it never took a swim. They will have you do a master reset first, so be prepared or just tell them you did and issue continues.

local store no longer askes me the standard stuff, they just ask whats wrong and start the paperwork. My photo hangs on the "repeat offender" wall.
