Default Keypad is malfunctioning

Hi all, I'm having a weird bug. The "P" and "B" keys act funny when doing text entry in several areas, but not all the time.

For example when sending a text message, the P key enters an "H" and then acts as if i pressed the "Send" function of the left softkey. The B key enters "bteib" and then acts as if i pressed the "Menu" function of the right softkey.

When making an appointment both keys do the same thing with that applications' uses of the soft keys.

When using google maps they do the same thing with that applications use of the soft keys.

Does my description make sense? Anybody have any idea of what could be causing this? Its a strange problem because it only affects those two keys. I can eliminate water damage from the potential list of causes. I'd like to avoid a master reset if possible so please don't suggest that. I'm willing to do that, but only if nobody has any other ideas.

Thanks for any potential advice.

I also have the (almost) exact same problem. keys "t" "e" "i" "b" and right softkey seem to be some how connected. If I press one, others automatically appear on screen. Some times, some of them doesn't even work.

Does anyone have any idea what is going on here? I called moto q support but they keep transfering me from one dept. to another. I am sick and tired of them.

I had this issue too. Mine got really bad to where I couldn't use the keyboard at all. My Q had a year warranty and I was with Verizon. I took it back and then gave me a new one in my 11th month.

To all those above ^^^^^ have any of you added new software recently. Could be a conflict with the software and the keypad on your Q. Try backing up / sycning your Q then remove any software recently added, one title at a time until the problems stop. If that is not the issue, do the backup then try a soft reset, pull battery. Last resort is of course the master reset. Good luck, if after all the options that does not work, contact your provider and see if they will replace the phone.

I had the same basic problem w/my USC Q. Keyboard doing weird things, sending texts while I'm still typing, adding extra letters whenever it felt like it. USC swapped me a refurb, and no more problems. Except keyboard is much more sensitive. I have to lock it when I'm not using it, because it will make calls if I happen to put any pressure on the holster.

Battery life is also much improved on this one.
