Keyboard and buttons

Couple quick questions:
1. BUttons - I searched it and found the latest is that the "hack" to re-map buttons bricks the phone - any other ideas on this? I come from a 6700 environment so I am very used to having custom buttons - and i have never used the "back" button on the side yet (on purpose at least) .


2. Turning off the device but not the phone. I would love to turn off the display w/out having to turn off the phone (and vice versa) by pressing the red power button when not in a call (like the pocket pc)...anything that can be done on this? I use Candlelight for backlight - LOVE the program!!!...but I want to turn off the screen.

3. Keyboard lights - don't like them on when I am reading so can I set a time for them to go off (say 25 seconds)? Problem is I hit the toggle dial to change pages so it I imagine it would always stay on - guess I am looking for something like KB Lites Off (throw back to my Treo 650 days).
