Default Just ordered a Q. New Firmware?

Hey all, I'm new here and should be around for a while..

I just ordered my Moto Q..

I've searched for answers to my question but have had not much luck.

Do I want to update my firmware right when i get my Q? From what I've read here and online, it sounds like I want to.

I'm scared though, I have bad luck updating firmware for anything! I've ruined a few things. So could anyone give me directions on how to update or possibly direct me to a thread where this is explained?

This would be MUCHLY appreciated.

thanks!

it would be best to do it first. Otherwise any info you added will just get erased.

the update process is pretty straightforward. Go to the moto web site and download the update program, plug in Q and follow directions.

backup anything you wish to keep as it may/will erase everything.

Thanks guys! I ordered it brand new off of Ebay. US Cellular is my carrier and I'm pretty sure all the models they've sold have been the same.

But yeah one of my main questions was gonna be if I update the firmware, will it deactivate my phone and delete my stuff.

it will delete your stuff but it should not deactivate your phone.

can someone supply the link to download the update program please???? I just got a used Q and probably needs a firmware update. Will stuff in Outlook re-update the q?

i just found this on their site, its for verizon motorola q, why do they want you to make sure your q is under warranty? is this the correct program to update the firmware??

Yea good idea to do it on a blank new phone so you don't have to hassle it or a while.
