Is there a way to make the screen come on when you get mail?

When you get mail, it does the alert sound. Is there a way to make the screen come on without touching a button?

Try automatic keylock program. It runs in the background and you can set alerts. My screen & back light come one and flash when I get a message, until I press a key. It's great for in the car at night.

How do I set it so that if my email or a text arrives, it'll automatically unlock? I know I can include it on the additional excludes but I don't know the path

I don't see where it can unlock automatically, just what to automatically do for each profile and when charging.
