Installing games, programs, etc.

I know how to do pictures, music & such, but not install games & programs. Must I put them in a folder on the Q or set it up as an active sync thing to do it for me?

Can someone please tell me how to do this?

There are three main ways to do this.

1. The most common is downloading an EXE or MSI file that you run on your PC that installs the program on the Q over ActiveSync.
2. You can also sometimes download CAB files directly to the Q and run them there to install the program.
3. Some very simple programs are just shipped as EXE files that you just put directly on the Q (usually in the \Program Files folder). You'll have to create your own Start Menu shortcuts for those.

There are also the variations where the above files are compressed in ZIP or RAR files, of course, but after you decompress them, the process is the same.

If you have to do a manual install, yes. Most programs with installers will install in a sub-folder of \Program Files automatically, so you shouldn't have to do anything special.

I haven't installed any programs on a memory card yet, so I don't know where they end up. (On the Pocket PC, they usually ended up in a folder off the root of the memory card.)
