Default I'm sorry to ask a gmail question....

Like i searched but no question answered my questions exactly so here:
i tried to do the whole gmail set up via the faqs on the faqs section but it keeps trying to get my password but still nothing....it connects and logs on then asks for my password and repeats the whole process...huh?

on a side note, is there a way to have the txt messages just pop out and be viewable from the home screen or do you always have to select the txt message icon or press the button to view the txt message

thanks in advance

Well, assuming you did the setup procedure on the Q properly, did you remember to log into gmail through your computer and set it up for pop access (through options)? A lot of people forget to do that and figure there's something wrong with their phone. If you did, I could write up a quick walk through...but I think I already posted one somewhere on here.

As of now, I don't know of any mods that will allow you to view text messages on the homescreen...would be really cool though.

When I initially set up my Gmail on my Q I checked the Automatic Setup box that asked if I wanted the phone to try and automatically configure the account (under the email address input box on the first page of new account set up)and it did so, all I added was my name, password, and the time interval for message checking.

These are my settings:

Server type - POP3
Network - Internet
Incoming Server - pop.gmail.com:995
Require SSL Connection - unchecked
Outgoing Server - smtp.gmail.com:465
Outgoing server requires authentication - checked

If everything is set up correctly, you should see the number of emails once you do a send/receive.

yeah if i go to my email folder it will show me number of emails but at the hme screen it wont. you know where it shows your profile, your prgrams recently run, your email(x) and text(x) messages and it won't show them in that location. i have to open my messages folder to see if i have emails

if i have everything set up correctly, what happens when you delete an email?

If i delete an email from outlook, when i log into gmail will the email be deleted or will it still be in the inbox?

basically i dont want to have to delete my mail in both outlook and gmail.com
