Default How to sync with VPN protected outlook

Hello
At home, I have Outlook setup to my company's exchange server. This server is behind a firewall that is protected by VPN. I use a Secure ID to login to this VPN.

My question is, when I try to use Active Sync on my home computer, it refuses to do any syncing because Outlook is configured to talk to my company's exchange server. Active Sync is unable to get my profile since it is behind a firewall. I don't want to have to go through it using VPN in order to do a sync.

Is there any way I can setup a local Outlook data file and then have Active Sync sync to that one?

Default I need this answer too.

I'm contemplating buying a Q but I'll need to sync to an Exchange Server through a Firewall. This would be a deal killer for me.

Even if I can't sync through the firewall, is there a way I can sync to a local profile? When running active sync, it just seems to want to sync to whatever is there (which is my company email)....

I'm trying to figure out what it is you are trying to do. You should have no problem using Activesync on your computer to sync Outlook with your Q, I do it all the time with my company laptop. I'm far from an expert but I don't see a remote Outlook setup where the .pst files are not at least duplicated on the local hard drive, without the local files I don't think you could access your contacts or any other Outlook data when your internet connection is down.

Now if you are trying to sync with your company's Exchange server then you will have a problem unless you have a vpn client compatible with what your company is setup with. BTW if your company is using Sonicwall vpn systems then you are SOL because they won't support Windows Mobile.
