Default how to close programs?

sometimes i notice in task manager that many programs are still running. I am assuming this is using more battery power. how do you exit out of programs in general?

Yes, I know how to do that I was wondering if there's a way when you are done with a program that you are supposed to close it, on an individual basis?

Also, what's the best way to cycle through open programs?

I don't think there is a way to close individual programs unless the program has an exit function. If you find out otherwise I would sure like to know. Hopefully this is something they fix in the next version.
