Default Horrible Voice Recognition

I'm experiencing absolutely horrible voice recognition, to the point where it's almost not working at all. Doesn't even understand "Yes" while speaking directly into the phone, so it can't be a headset problem.

Girlfriend has a Razr and it works perfectly with or without a headset, and my old motorola v710 worked great too, so I'm a bit shocked and confused how voice recognition works so horribly in a Motorola Q smartphone but worked great on the horrible v710.

Any suggestions? It's even hit-n-miss when gf tries it and she has perfect dictation. Can it be trained?

I'm not sure how the Q has been out for years and this hasn't been fixed yet, seems every crappy phone out has voice recognition now days, doesn't seem to be a complicated or high-tech feature that you'd expect to have problems with.

ha ha - that's so funny but you're right. I've learned to enunciate the way my Q likes to hear - reading your post reminded me that I'm usually embarrassed while placing a call using voice activation on my bluetooth. I have to speak very intentionally and precisely and pause to ensure clarity: CALL - WITZAH - MOBILE. Then when it repeats to me "call witzah mobile" I have to say "YESSSSSS" and focus on the "ssss".

from my own experiences be very emphatic, precise, loud and clear. you'll get the Q voice down quickly (lol)

yesssss
noooooo
CALLL JAMESSS (SLIGHT PAUSE) MOOBILE

(putting extra emphasis on areas with extra letters)

you'll quickly feel embarrassed about using voice activation like the rest (one time at toys r us a guy came up to me & asked if I was alright while looking at me like i was nuts!)

I think I tried using this feature once maybe twice before I realized it just wasn't going to work.

my voice activation works GREAT but i just need to articulate the way it wants.

i made a call since my last post here and realized that the emphasis I make in my voice placed calls are as follows (emphasizing the capitals):

Call WITZAH (pause) MoBile

(did you say, call Witzah, mobile?)

YeSSS

or

NNNooooooooo

I know, silly way around an otherwise technical problem - but since learning the language it's easy enough & goodness, I rely on the voice activation especially while driving through my bluetooth!

Which Q do you have? I thought about getting VC but wasn't sure all the features would work correctly. Does it work via BT headsets? Anything not work correctly?
