Default Help with Windows Media

Has anyone experienced a problem with Windows Media working after upgrading to Vista? I am receiving the following error when I access the library or playlist: "an unknown error 0X800300FD has occurred" If I access the file using file manager the song will play. Any ideas? Thanks.

Music or Audio Windows Media

It seems that i am also having problems with trying to sync my music in my storage card with Windows Media. Is there any possible way that there is a solution by not using windows media to play music?

Please let me know if there are alternative solutions.

Cheers.

Jerry

I get this when I use the USB cable to sync files. For some reason the file manager program that replaces Active Sync in Vista creates this error when I try and transfer large files or too many music files (only lets me fill the card up to about half its capacity).

If your pc has an SD card reader, I would suggest that you remove it from your Q and plug the card directly into your computer. This has worked for me, I filled the card completely (I got Smokin' Aces and about 80 songs on there with no problems)

Hope this helps

FourTwenSesh thanks for the quick response. I do have a SD reader and I am still using Windows XP Pro and I am just wondering that if I just add the tunes in a folder using the Windows Mobile from the SD Reader I do not have to use
Active Sync? I thought the whole point of using Active Sync was to sync with Windows Media Player.

Thanks again.

Nope, you won't need active sync unless you want to synchronize your contacts/notes/appointments, etc. Active sync for the Palm m100 (the first ever Palm Pilot - which i still have unfortunately) was purely to sync contacts, games, and outlook info. The hard drive space on this was only 8mb, I never thought getting up to 1GB of storage was possible.

The only downfall to just copying the files directly across is that you have to take the card out every time, and you also have to tell Media Player to 'update library' - this is an option in Media Player. This is so it knows exactly what is on your SD card at any given time.

FourTwenSesh,

Thanks a bunch and the only last question I had was, I have Palm Pilot Zire 71 and I have been trying to upload the contacts to my Q, do you have any suggestions on which format to save the Contacts and also where do I store in on the Q card or Q phone?

Thanks again. You have been very helpful!!!

Jerry

Jerry,

It seems like I have found a simpler way to get the contacts across without using 3 steps. You need to first make sure that Bluetooth is enabled on your Q. (In your start menu)

Then follow these steps:

Use Bluetooth technology to beam Calendar appointments, Contacts, Tasks, Memos from a Windows Mobile smartphone

Calendar appointments, Contacts, Tasks and Notes are known as PIM items. PIM stands for Personal Information Manager, such as Microsoft Outlook on a PC. Depending on what is on the receiving device, PIM items may be accepted directly into the desktop PIM in their original forms, or they may be accepted as generic or unknown files. How to beam PIM items via Bluetooth technology:
  1. On your smartphone, open the item in Calendar, Contacts, Tasks or Notes.
  2. Press Menu, and select Beam.
  3. Your smartphone will search for Bluetooth wireless devices in range. When you see the name of the device you wish to send to, tap the device and you smartphone will begin sending the item.
  4. The way the item is accepted depends on the software on the receiving device:
***You might have trouble with the contact formats (*.*) after they are sent, but you will have to test first. It should be fine if both are running Windows.

I thought that Windows Vista would not work with the non-HC SD cards that the Q must use. I'm trying to determine if that's true. If so, I'll have to return my Q.
