Need Help Help - Moto q will not unlock!

The Q will not unlock - I have already taken the battery out /put it back in/restarted it several times. It starts up but will not unlock.

The screen is normal like it would be - says 'Unlock' - but will not.

anybody have this problem before - I didn't drop the phone or anything like that - > not sure what to do from here.

Thanks - >

hmmm... ahem - > thank you for your suggestion, yes - I have done many searched not just through this site however through a few search engines and other motorola q specific sites.

that said - perhaps if you read my thread, I specifically mentioned that I was - unlike you were (apparently) - unable to unlock the phone after a reboot. oh and yes before you ask, I did press the button that represents 'Unlock' that appears on the screen.

Thanks rudeboy - you would have lived up to you name if you knew how to read, perhaps it is ignorantboy or illiterateboy? Does anyone have any actual suggestions... that may have or actually will read the thread - that might pertain to my question?

In fact, if you really did have this problem - and you needed to write a post relaying the fact that you may actually have to press the 'Unlock' button to unlock your phone - perhaps the 'Super' in you moderator should be changed to 'Special'. you get a gold star.

Thanks in advance...

Have you added any 3rd party apps that may have hooked your left softkey or */a button?

Otherwise it be like Belize believes.

I should have realized you most likely get many noob questions - I am sure you realize <<after>> you click the LSK (Left Soft Key) [when it states 'Unlock'] it asks to please press the '*'/A to unlock... it does not actually get to this point.

The point being the phone does not ask you to press '*'/A in order to finalize the unlock procedure after pressing the LSK for the unlock procedure.

Does this make sense now as an issue? Please let me know if there is something else you do not understand about this or if you have a question.

Thanks

i would not classify the questions asked here as foolish, we all had our first day... at this point if it doesn't even get to the press */a screen it could be that the LSK is not working properly, any issues with that key in other applications (only applicable if you ever get it unlocked) ?

it is most likely that you need to exchange this Q..

I haven't previously had any problems with the LSK button or any others - it was really a sudden and random occurance.

I have only a few software downloads, I believe they were all through credible sources - Motorola Q/Microsoft approved. That was many months ago and haven't really even used them or had any issues with them.

I am going to the Verizon store now and will let you guys know what happens.

yea, at this point especially if you had 3rd software running for a longer period of time there is no reason to assume that would be the culprit, everything points to a defective key.
