Brad,
Yes, that's exactly what I have - the Q9H Global, with AT&T service. I don't even own a bluetooth GPS receiver. All I did was to download, install, and run the Google software (from
www.google.com/gmm ). In fact, I had it working before I even figured out how to use any of the bluetooth features.
It did take several minutes, standing outside in the clear, for it to pick up the satellites. Mine doesn't seem sensitive enough to get any satellites while I'm indoors. In the car, it seems to *hold* satellites fine while holding it in normally, seated in the front seat- but to initially acquire the satellites I usually have to set it on the dash for a few minutes.
I just now thought about it, but since it needs to download data nearly real-time to work, I wonder if it might be limited to only certain kinds of data plans. I'm using one of the pda connect data plans.
All that being said, I'm impressed with how it works for occasional location finding and directions. I think if I was going to use it on an everyday basis, I'd probably spring for a bluetooth GPS adapter anyway, which is probably more sensitive, and to avoid worrying about moving the Q around and losing all the satellites.
Good luck, it's kinda cool to see a satellite photo of your exact location when you get it working...

I think mine is a Q9H global. Its from At&T Wireless & I just got it a couple of weeks ago.
From what I have read, you MUST have a seperate external bluetooth GPS adapter to get the google maps, etc.. software to use the GPS funtionality. |
