Question Gps

does the Q have a GPS receiver build-in like the Razr does ? (in the Razr the app. is called VZ Navigator) it was/is an extra 10 bucks per month. i used it quite frequent but if it's not on the Q i guess i can just Mapquest directions.

Default GPS Receiver vs. Application

The Q has an aGPS receiver just like the RAZR (or pretty much any other cell phone made in the last few years). However, it doesn't have any navigation programs built-in. VZ Navigator won't work because it's a BREW application and the Q doesn't have the BREW runtime environment.

For GPS, you'd need an external reciever and software. Right now, the only option I'm aware of is CoPilot Live 6 Motorola Q Edition. I did a review that you might find informative.

How about a link for that? I just did a search on Garmin's site for Mobile 20 and got no hits.

If it's just a GPS receiver (with no navigation software), that's not really a big deal. Almost any Bluetooth GPS receiver should work with the Q; it's finding navigation software that's the hard part.

Even without a GPS receiver, Windows Live Search might be preferable to MapQuest.

I hadn't heard about that (probably because it came out recently). That looks like a decent solution and adds another GPS navigation system for Q owners to consider. However, when I tried to select it for a couple of Smartphones, it said was only available for pre-order.
