Default Free Back-up utility

This Back-up utility was found on another forum and is reported to work on the Q, although the poster did not do a restore yet.

And, if the file name is accurate, it sounds like it only backs up PIM data (maybe pim.vol) anyway.

Too bad. I saw that it was designed for the PPC but a mod on another forum said she had it running on her Q. She did a backup but not a restore.

Maybe it's a PC exe!

Steve
It does talk about backing up registry edits also, which would be pretty good for people that couldn't afford Sprite or Outlook. One would still have to setup email and reinstall programs after a master reset but wouldn't have to worry about pim or registry.

I don't think so. The Web page says:

Quote:
The exe contained in the zip file, should be copied and launched on the pocket pc, and not on a pc.
So you do run it on your device.

Also, the screen shot shows a Pocket PC screen. That doesn't prove anything, of course, but the quote above also mentions the Pocket PC.

I didn't see anything about the registry. Again, here's what the site says:

Quote:
Features:
- backup/restore appointments
- backup/restore call logs
- backup/restore contacts
- backup/restore messages (SMS, Mails, ...) NEW !!!
- backup/restore speed dials
- backup/restore tasks
- backup/restore custom files
I don't know what "custom files" are (I just skimmed the page), but that doesn't sound like the registry.

just tried it on my q9m and it worked. I unzipped the backup file and there are csv files with the info
appointments, call logs, contacts, custom, speed dials, tasks.

Steve
Your right, I was just going from my memory of skimming their site and I had gone to their next page with their Task Manager. I had no need for the Backup program as I use: Sprite, Outlook and Mobsync, however, I might try the task manager and see if it works on the Q.(also designed for PPC) Seems like it's got some nice features.
