It's an instant email delivery function. You need an exchange server to deliver push to your phone. If you don't have your own, you can use mail2web.

Other ways to get mail:
You can also use vzw wireless sync instead of push.

You can also use pop/imap delivery on the Q.

You can also use activesync wired or BT.

You can also use webmail.
