Email Questions

I am using the Q to wirelessly sync to Verizon Wireless for my pop3 account.

When I set up the pop3 account, I had to creat a new account, instead of the Outlook that was already installed on the phone. I didn't want to, but I don't use Outlook at home or work.

So now when I get messages it shows a notice on the homepage of the phone, it is a seperate line toward the bottom of the screen with my account name, as opposed to the email - text messages line at the top of the screen.

Can I get it to display on the Email (0), Text Message (0) without using Outlook? Or does that line only apply to Outlook?
