Default Easy Questions, but be gentle w/ me lol I'm a noob :P

Ok, so I got my Q a few days ago and I love it. I've spent several days browsing both this site and qusers.com to get as much info on what I wanted/needed as possible. I've even managed to do just about everything I want to do so far w/o asking for help on these boards.........until now.

I'm extremely hesitant to post on qusers, they apparently have several forum nazi's harping on search functions, and if I wanted to be flamed I'd go to a gamer forum for that, haha, either way you all seemed really nice and genuinely very helpfull over here so thought I'd try here 1st.

1st question: Cab files - after I've put them on my phone and installed the program, can I delete the cab file? or is it needed to run the program like an exe file? and is there a program that pretty much sweeps over the entire phones memory and deletes unnecessary files for you? I'm a little terrifed to use the registry editors. I don't know anything about their functions and would prefer not to wreck my phone in the first week of owning it :/.

2nd: I've read in several places that the sounds folder gets laggy after a while of inserting ringtones, but what about the rest of the system, I seem to get that windows loading screen a lot and the processes seem to take longer and longer, is there a certain amt of memory that the Q should be at for optimal performance? or is it pretty much hit or miss on speed?

3rd: Recommendatons on what files and programs I should have on my card opposed to the phone itself? I understand the speed issues and that if it's on the phone it'll be accessed faster, but I also don't want to have a ton of unnecessary crap on my phone that i could have on the card.

4th: Start menu, I've already read up on how to access and change the items in the folder itself, but what do I do with them? Will I be harming anything by deleting the .lnk file? Like if I delete the .lnk for active sync from the start menu will it stop functioning when I connect to the pc? or should i just move them to another folder, and if so, does the folder matter? or can I make new folders?

5th Last but not least, wtf is up w Pacman, that dude's outta control. When I load the game he's always trying to go up, I have to constantly fight with controls. Anyone else had this issue or know of a quick fix?

Anyways, sorry for the long post. Love the support and all the helpfull ppl here making me a happy Q owner. Keep up the good work!

Welcome to EQ!

1) Leave the CAB file on your phone, it needs it. Windows of any version does not like it when you delete cab files.

2) I wouldn't worry too much about the lag if you don't hack the living crap out of your Q....

3) Recommendations aren't really my strong suit, I suggest the search feature for this

4) Deleting the .lnk file only deletes the link/path to that application.

5) You can also use the search on this one too, I have no idea how to fix pacman.

Enjoy

I always move cab files to my storage card after installing an application. That will save a lot of space on your device if you install a lot of applications.

Also, be a little careful about deleting .lnk files. For example, an applications that accesses a system default function (e.g. the call history list) might access via the .lnk file. I suggest moving the ones you don't want off to a stroage card. That way if you find any third party apps that start acting strange after deleting one, you can put it back.
