Default Disney employee trying to synch work email to Q

I'm a new q user (about a week) and I'm having problems linking my q with work email. I was told by IT that I need some sort of license. We currently use the blackberry through Cingular and a license has to be bought each time (so they say). For some reason I think there's another way around this without company spending money for me to gain access on my Q. Maybe I'm not asking the right questions to my IT staff. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Do you use outlook? Are they using MS exchange 2003? does it have service pack 2 and do you know the email server address? Does it need to be a secure/encrypted connection?

Well you can try to set it up via activ sync on your Q but you need the sever address. The reason you are using blackberry is cause your IT department probably has some encryption type service through Cingular and Balckberry is very common to use a secure connection.

This won't be a secure Connection: but on your Q go to Activsync > add server source > enter the webmail address > Next > enter your email or network user name, password, domain > Next > then choose the items you want to sync . Finish. Again, This will probably not be secure. But you probably don't have to comply with GLBA or HIPPA.

For secure access you might want to ask your IT department if they use Good Link.

It may not work depending on the security your IT department has up and running, but good luck!!

Well, looks like I have to go through alot of hoops (forms, approvals etc) to gain access to my companies email via the Q. So i decided to just access it from the web like I would on my PC and it works just fine. Was hoping I could just get popup email as it came in instead of having to log into web access but this way works just as good. Thank you Stealth for your suggestions and help.

By the way, I'm totally in love with this thing..cant even put it down!!!

You using sprint or Verizon? I might know a work around if Sprint. You wouldn't sync, but email would be redirected to your Q, and Sprint allows your to spoof any email address so if you reply it would look as if it came from your corp email. This also depends on your company security settings, you just don't have ask for any info from them.
