Disappointed in WM Features on Q I just got a Q a few weeks ago after having an XV6700 for about a year. One of the things I am disappointed with is the lack of "robustness" on the Windows Mobile applications on my Q. I'm specifically referring to Contacts, Tasks, and Calendar events. On my XV6700, I could do everything on my phone that I could do on my computer. On my Q, it seems like I have to enter in a basic item in the phone, and then fix it in the computer so it's like I want.
Example 1 - Tasks:
I enter in a task that I deem to be high priority. When I enter it in my Q, there is no option to make it a high priority. Further, there isn't even an option to edit my task, so if I mis-spell something in the title I have to delete it and start over.
Example 2 - Contacts:
I was sent a vcard from somebody that included their first, middle and last name (call him Jim Bob Smith). This person goes by their middle name, Bob, but when I want to text him I have to remember to enter Jim instead of Bob because that's how his contact is listed. No big deal - just go to contacts and edit the name, right? Not so fast, turns out on the Q it won't let me change the middle name for some reason so now I'm looking at Bob Bob Smith.
Example 3 - Calendar:
I want to edit one instance of a recurring appointment. In particular, I want to set a reminder for this one instance because it's a little different. I was able to change the time of that one instance, but not able to add a reminder.
These are just 3 recent examples of things that have frustrated me about this phone. Why can't the WM applications function as they do on a computer? I also miss the ability to "right-click" from the xv6700. I figured that you would be able to do that by simply holding down the center button as on the other phone, but alas this feature is not included.
Further, how come my number of tasks aren't on the home screen? And why the hell would I only want my next appointment on the home screen as opposed to the full day's list? I haven't figured out how I can change this setting.
I did some searching and it looks like facade will help there. The only things I'm concerned with about that program is the functionality of it without a touchscreen. It seems like it might be cumbersome to use with the scroll wheel and directional pad. Thoughts? |
