Default Different notifications/volumes for text msg/email

Is there a way to use one notification sound/volume for new emails and a different notification sound/volume for new text messages. I get many emails and hearing the notification all the time is annoying. However, I want to be made aware of new text messages right away, as they arrive. So turning off the notification entirely is not an option.

Ideally, it would make a loud sound for new text messages and a quiet sound (or be off all together) for new emails, though the new email notification would stuill display on the home screen.

Any way to achieve this?

How can I make one louder without making the other one louder as well. Within profiles all I have is "Notification volume" which appears to control both text messages and email messages.

then make the actual tone louder

try a program called 'audacity' to increase and decrease the volume of the file

Thanks. Do you know the path to the sound files that come pre-installed on the Q, so that I can work with the file in Audacity?

Thanks again. I can see this folder in File Manager on the Q itself, but if I try navigating to it while connected to my pc, I cannot get there. Any way to gain access to this folder via my desktop/Windows Vista

cant really help with vista (i dont own it)

but i guess you can copy it to another folder on the device then navigate to a folder you can find and then change it
copy it back to that folder then finally move it back to the windows folder

or...just find a fresh tone and save it to your \application data\sounds folder and use that one

Thanks. The secret was in the Folder Options, you have to uncheck "Hide protected operating system files"
