Well I actually just answered this in another post, but here:

Go into File Manager > Windows > StartMenu and there are all of your Start icons.

Anything you want to delete is probably set to System and Read-Only files, so highlight, enter options, and uncheck the Read-Only and System boxes. Now delete them and they'll be gone.

try removing the read-only tag
highlight the file and then hit menu options and you should be able to uncheck read-only...
see if that helps

I only have 4 icons there. ACCESSORIES, SYSTEM TOOLS, BLUETOOTH & GAMES.
I'd like to get rid of POCKET MSN, WIRELESS SYNCH, HELP, TASKS, VOICE RECOGNITION....

To see those you have to go into File manager's options and uncheck "Hide System" and "Hide Read-Only". Then to delete them you'll have to go into each icons properties and uncheck "Read-Only" and "System".

Just a note: Some factory installed programs will leave a copy of the shortcut in the \\Windows\ directory. For me, on Alltell, I still have a SharpcastPhoto.lnk and Activate.lnk (for Handmark Express) in my Windows folder and it auto-resets back to Read-Only and System when changed. I still haven't found a way to delete those bad shortcuts and you may run into that all depending on how it was set up (the software).
