Default Corrupted SD Cards

So what is up with the Q and SD cards? I've never had a problem like this with a device and I'm starting to think I have a bad device.

My Q (Sprint) eats up SD cards. I'm on my 3rd one now and the Q just seems to keep corrupting every card I throw in there. The latest card worked fine when I first put it in but after checking it today, the Q said it needed to be formatted. So I allowed it to try and format the card and now it is completely unreadable, even with my PC (which reads other SD cards just fine).

I have a SanDisk Ultra II 1GB card and this is third one that the Q has destroyed. Has anyone ever found what is causing this or do I just have a bad phone? The Q has the latest software on it from Motorola's site.

Thanks!

welcome aboard...

i have had a Sandisk 2Gb card in my Q for about 8-9 months, and granted i don't use it very often but i never had an issue.. not sure how or what but it might just be the Q doing it ? it should not happen that's for sure..

I'm going to get a standard SD card and see what happens to that one. I'm starting to think it's the Ultra II card and that the Q doesn't like it for some reason.

I'll be specific about what I mean by corrupted. The Q is corrupting the secure area of the card, and once that happens the card cannot be re-formatted by any means. The card is useless at that point and you might as well try to take it back (if the reatailer will take it back) or throw it in the trash.

I would think it was the card if it only happened once but this has happened to 3 different cards that I have put in this device, all brand new cards that had never been in any other device. It has to be the Q that is doing it and although frustrating there doesn't appear to be anything I can do about it except try another card.

Do you remove you card often? I think I read these cards aren't very durable and the scraping motion of pulling the cards in and out can screw em up.

I've had a 2gig card for a few months now and have not had a single issue but I also haven't removed it since I got it.

No, in fact the only time I removed this latest card was to put it in my PC and see if it could be read since the phone was no longer recognizing it. Once the phone tried to format it, bye bye card.
