Can I use this car charger?

Hey guys. I have a tomtom 720 GPS and the car charger for it has a output rating of 5V2A. Can I use this on the Q?

I would say no because for some reason, moto q's will not charge from non moto chargers....it will give you an error message.

I have a motorola car charger maybe I can use it on my tomtom. Its the Motorola syn1630a, problem is I can find the output information anywhere. I'm just trying to use one charger for both devices.

i used non motorola chargers b4 and it worked just fine

I understand, but this is not a generic cell phone charger its a tomtom charger, so i'm concerned..

I thought about that too.. just trying and see what happens.. Is there any chance the tomtom charger will break the Q though?

I would advise against using a charger not specifically designed for the unit that you are using. However, if you must use a non-device specific charger then make sure that the output of the tomtom unit (Volts as well as Amps) does not exceed that of the original charging unit since it may have an adverse effect on your battery's performance, charge retention, and overall lifespan.

It should be printed on the charger somewhere, but if you checkout the specs for that model it is approved/compatible (link) with the Q
