Camera Focusing point?

What does the Q use for a point of focus when taking a picture?
My Q is a mystery when it comes to focusing on things as I can point long distance for scenery and be good once and out of focus on the next. My other cams focus in center but that feature and with dim light the same situation.

Thus a 2nd related question: Is there a button to press to get it to focus, similar to the half way down on other cameras to get it to focus and setup for aperture, before making final capture of the picture?

The manual on this camera needs more info guys.
