Default battery question

Morning Q users...and happy dad's day to the dads out there....

I bought 2 brand new extended batteries, both for my and my wife's Q...

This one, to be exact...

http://www.amazon.com/Motorola-1400m...094992&sr=8-20

The last 2 nights I have gone to be(about 2-3 in the morning) with 3 battery bars on the phone and gotten up at 9-10 in the morning with the phone shut off and the battery drained. I am at a loss at how it loses all of this juice in 7-8 hours.

I have the ringer setting to ring and vibrate. I know the vibrate option uses more battery, but the most calls I had missed was 3. It does vibrate for VM too, but 3 calls and 3 VM vibrations just doesn't seem like it would be enough to drain an extended battery with 3 bars.

I have my email set to check every 15 min, but it does this all day long and I never lose the bars when I start the day fully charged.

I have no problem setting the email to 'never' check and I can do it manually, but is there something I am missing? Is there a default program/setting in the Q that has it doing something overnight?...check for updates?etc....kind of like setting your home pc to run AV or defrag overnight. Just curious if the Q has/had a similar setting that I need to switch off?

I just noticed that I had the Bluetooth set to ON and has been that way for a week or so now. Is this something that would drain the battery if constantly on?

I don't know much about the Q specifically, but I'm pretty sure leaving bluetooth on would drain the battery faster. I know it does on my RAZR, at least.

I've seen a couple of threads lately about battery charging issues (I have the same intermittent problem). My suggestion is to make sure you hear both the little beep when you plug it in to charge and see the little charging sign (the little plug) at the top.

If this still doesn't help, turn the phone off, remove the battery, plug the battery back in, and try charging it without turning the phone on. This has worked a couple of times for me (although some of the steps are probably superfluous, I'm not one to mess with a procedure that works).

In Bluetooth, I've read (no idea where) that changing it so the device is not visible to others helps to not to drain the battery nearly as much, even if BT is turned on.

I've had my Bluetooth set ON, for the last few days on the same charge. Very little battery usage is to keep the connection alive, between the headset and phone. The only time it'll start to 'drain' the battery, is when you're using the bluetooth feature for phone calls, transferring data, or media use.

did you ever find a solution? mine is doing the same thing and it's just overnight! i'll have three bars then when i wake up it's drained. i don't use bluetooth and i don't have it check my email for me so i don't know what it would be doing.

Default Similar Issue

I don't mean to go off topic here but I have experienced a similar issue. I regularly run my q for about a week without cycling the power. I have found that if i remove the battery for a minute every few days or after I have discharged it 80-90% it helps out a great deal. YMMV

Are you killing programs before you go to bed..or at all for that matter? Leaving a large number of programs running in memory can suck through your battery.
