Default Battery Life

Hello, I recently bought a new Q with US Cellular. I am in love with it, it is awesome. The only thing that bugs me is the battery. I charge it overnight, unplug it at 7:30 in the morning and go to school. Leave it on in my pocket o, do a few txts throughout the day (10 at max). But the time I get home from school its at the last bar and starts giving batter low warning. I am just wondering if this is normal. The battery says 1170 mAH and it is a 3.7v. Is there any extended batteries that are as small as the originals? I would look into that but don't want to ruin the sleekness of it. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!

make sure you end all of the programs in task manager..if you don't they will obviously drain down the battery throughout the day..

Nvm, I figured it out. I do close them after I am done with them. I hope this isnt truly the battery life of the Q, rather it just be a bad battery. Any input please! Thanks

Mine usually last longer than that and i browse the web in school sometimes. You may have a bad battery. Try turning your phone off when you charge it up, so it will get a complete full charge.

Someone please help me out!
I charged it overnight off, woke up this morning had a full charge. I used key lock and candlelight all day. Made sure all programs were cleared in task manager. Made about 3 phone calls, 8 txts and sure enough the battery is on its last bar by 3:30. Is this normal or do I have a bad battery? Please help guys, I hate not being able to use my phone.

Your phone is fine, I don't know anyone with a Q that can get it to last past noon using the stock battery.

The battery in the Q has the same capacity as the battery in regular motorola phones like the Razr, but obviously those have much smaller LCDs and they're not running Windows.

In fact the battery life is so bad that US Cellular*** gives 2 batteries and a extra charger to every customer that gets a Q. Not as a separate package either, they put it right in the box when you buy the Q, probably so they don't have to hear "My Q has a bad battery!" all the time. Most other Windows Mobile phones have batteries with 50% more capacity than the Q.

Get the triple life battery from seidio with 3200mAh. I have one and it'll last over a day without charging and I'm constantly using my phone.

Funny battery story: co-worker notices the extended battery the other day and says "hey you got an extended battery?"
Me: "Yep"
Him: "How's it work? Do you like it?"
Me: "Yeah it'll last over a day now"
Him: "Huh maybe I should get one"
Me: "You have a Q? I've never seen you with it, where's it at?"
Him: "It dies every morning before I get to work, I leave it in the car charging all day."

***I just noticed you said you got your phone from US Cellular, they didn't give you two batteries? They gave me two when I got mine last August. Washington post said you get two batteries: http://reviews.washingtonpost.com/pr...Motorola/Q.htm
"Anyone who spends a lot of time talking on their phone will probably find the Q's battery life insufficient, which is probably why Motorola includes two batteries with the Q."

Nothing worth buying. I mean sure Seidio has one that's 1300mAh that's original size but that's about only 10% more powerful, so instead of dying in 5 hours it'll die in 5.5 hrs, but trust me as you get to know all the features the Q has you'll use it more and more and you'll eat through power like crazy.

Just get the 3200mAh one, so instead of dying in 5 hrs it dies in 15 hrs. It's only $20 more than the 1300mAh one and then you're done, that's the biggest battery there is, you'll never sit there with a dead phone thinking "Gee, if I spent $20 more my phone would still be working"
