Exclamation Battery/charging problem

I seem to have "killed" 2 batteries by utulizing USB Charging. I am away from home and brought only a USB charger (110v/12v charger that connects to the phone with USB cable, all purchased from everythingq's online store) and a usb synch cable. It appears to charge fine, but if left overnight the phone shuts off and the battery no longer seems to work. I cannot yet tell if it is over charged or drained. We have 2 Qs and they both work fine with the 1 battery that we have (of 3) that hasn't exibited this phenomenon. (sp). 1 battery was new yesterday.

When I put in either "affected" battery I get a splash screen, then the phone shuts off. Again:with the 1 remaining battery both phones work fine.

It's possible to drain a Li-Ion battery to the point that you can't recharge it, Li-Ion's never really get fully drained when they are "dead". Li-Ions need a 3.7volt charge or so I believe ideally, using less than that can have a negative effect...

I'm not real clear on the numbers, there are some white-papers on it out there you can read, you may be able to recover your battery still if you charge it directly, or try an AC charger (But it could take a good while). You'll have to do some research.

I recovered them, but the real question is"Why did this occur?"

I would only use usb or car charger in emergency's and just stick with the factory motorola charger that came with your device.
