Default Battery and Voicemail indicator issues...

First off, my battery barely makes it through the day even under 'not-so-heavy' usage. I've ran through the posts here and done all that is suggested for maximum battery life minus installing one of the extended battery units. This occurred after I installed Google Maps onto the phone, which I quickly un-installed and still have this problem. I also constantly kill open applications after using them.

As well, is there any way to clear the voicemail indicator? I don't have any voicemails, however, it says that I do.

Thank you.

Default Hmmm...

Can you offer some specifics on your Q- carrier, firmware, etc?

My silver Q, VZW, drained hard pretty often, but I can't say I've had the same problem with my Black Q, VZW.

With that said, how often do you have your Q checking for email, and are you IMing a lot? Another question, is how long have you had it? My Q battery lives the longest it ever has, and it took about 5-8 full charges (drain and full charge) to be "normal" or more "normal" should I say?

Sprint is my carrier.

I do send quite a few text messages. However, even on days when I don't send that many or use the phone often at all, it will still drain rather quickly.

I can't recall how long exactly I've had the phone but it was right around when Sprint began offering it. (I know this only because every person I talked to at Sprint when I had questions would say "I don't know anything about it, it's brand new)

I'm not sure what part is the firmware, but under phone information then software version it reads:
Q2-BP_C_06.1E.00R
MP_BSP_C_02.07.61-37P_HW_P2.1 (I'm guessing what is after the HW is the important information.. Just figured I'd include it all)

to get rid of the voicemail count you can go to start -- settings and to the last page i believe sprint has something that will let you rmove the voicemail count

Is there a setting to remove the option to scan for emails? I don't use Oulook Express or pop3 email, so I have no need for it to continually check for new messages.

The voicemail problem is gone.... I believe it was messed up due to my theme I have right now. I had someone leave me a voicemail then I went in and deleted it and the voicemail icon left.

However, my battery issue is still awful. After charging completely overnight, I've sent 5 text messages and made 3 phone calls and I'm down to 1 bar of battery life left at 3 pm. I've gone through and done many of the things that people have suggested for longer battery life... (Turning off Bluetooth, RF, timeout on backlight, etc).

My battery seems to go down even faster when I use the keylock. I also make an attempt to not let anything press up against my side so that a button is not pressed making my phone light up.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I think signal strength is the biggest factor in battery life, by far.

If you are in 1-2 bar areas, it'll kill the battery fast.

This could possibly be it...

My phone does randomly go into Roaming, and I do spend a good amount of time right now in areas where I get poor service (During my work hours).

Are you on Sprint or Verizon? On Verizon, I know you can dial ##* then go into the field menu and change it to CDMA only which turns off EvDO. I find that dramtically increases battery life because it's not constantly searching and losing the Ev connection.

Of course, it also reduces your internet speeds quite a bit.
