Alt key button does not work, locked out

A friend of mine recently spilled domestic beer on my phone (he was trying to pour it into my mug of Spaten Bock...I was forced to make a sacrifice and chose the beer) and now my alternate key doesn't work.

It hasn't been a huge issue up until now, when my keypad lock has seen repeated bad password attempts, apparently from jostling around in my pocket through the day. Now it wants me to type the A1B2C3, but I cannot with no alternate key.

Is there any way for me to step around this with the phone connected up via USB? If I have to resort to a hard reset and want to back up my contacts, is pim.vol the only file I need to grab?

if thats all you want to backup then yes the pim.vol will do that for you

Not sure if we ever found out if you can install MyMobiler without using the Q's keyboard but it might be worth a shot. If you could you might be able to type it from your pc...

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried it but it appears I may have to disable advanced network functionality on the phone itself for it to work. I can't connect via IP or normally.


Trying to install Pocket Controller now but it seems the download site isn't responding to me. Drat.
