all emails disappear every time I send/receive

so I dont have my email set to retrieve on its own, saving battery.

but every time I send/receive it grabs all new emails (last 7 days like I have it set), but when I send and email or tell it to send/receive (to check my inbox) all the emails that were there disappear.

How do I keep the emails in my inbox when I send/receive?

I have to remind myself if I send an email to not actually go into the menu and hit send/receive till I have read all the new emails I have, its annoying. Plus any emails I want to "archive" I cant, unless I move to another folder, again annoying.

I came back to post that I am not stoned, I had my issues crossed.
