Activesync and Windows 2000 Professional

Okay, after an exhausting day of messing around with trying to get my Q to sync with the work computer that has Windows 2000 Professional, I came to the conclusion that ActiveSync doesn't work with 2000 Pro! It's not listed under the software that ActiveSync supports on their website, so is there any other way of getting it to sync (any hack software)? I have XP pro at home and that works like a charm with activesync 4.5. But I've tried every version from 4.1-4.5 with 2000 Pro and it just won't sync or file swap. I would like to sync with the work computer, but I'm not sure that's possible anymore. Anyone have any ideas?
