Default Active Sync and not recognizing my Q

Hi there
new Q user here, and I have been using it for about a week now and love it it, I was trying to install a file from my laptop to the Q and when I went to Active Sync, my laptop does not recognize my Q... I disabled my fireweall during the time, but still no luck.. Question, if I un-associate my Q from Active Sync and then re-associate it, will it really lose all my phone numbers and such,,,,.....and its too late to use Sprite Backup software as the Active sync will not recognize my Q....help..and thanks.

Did you load the drivers that came with the phone ? Use the install cd and let it go through it's paces.

No you wont lose ur info (contacts etc..) if you re-establish a new partner ship, ur PIM info will just re-sync back to your device. You can still backup your entire device with Sprite, which would be a good idea

Uncheck USB to PC connection setting and see if that helps. I could not get my Q to sync with my laptop but if you have an anti virus program on your pc, that can cause it not to recognize the Q. I got that tip directly from motorola.com which can be very helpful with many issues.

The same thing was happening to me and I could not figure out what the problem was. I installed, reinstalled and on and on. Finally realized it was Outlook--- I was using an older version. Upgraded to Outlook 2003 and all is well.
