Default Active Syc Issue With Exchange

I've had my Q for 2 months now and I've pinpointed a strange issue to Active Sync.

I have Active Sync set to connect to my work email (using our OWA server) and have configured to download ALL mail All size.

The Q syncs but after a week, it only retains a week worth of email, even though I set it to keep everything. EG the Q is deleting email when it shouldn't. I've called VZ support and they put me in touch with Motorola and neither got what I was telling them.

I've tried deleting the server configuration and still after a week, it deletes mail. I can recover from this running the undelete from Exchange but it's very annoying.

Anyone have any ideas?

Sounds like your OWA is set to only show the last week of email, which is default I believe.

Contact your exchange admin and they should be able to help you with that.

Or you can login to the OWA use a web browser, and look through the "OPTIONS"

That's not the case here. Up until the sync deletes the email from the server I can see months worth of stuff.

It does not happen with EVERY sync. So, when I recover the deleted items, they'll show for a few days. It seems to happen if I let the phone sync automatically after it's been left on over night. The admins check the config on the OWA side and say it's unlimited.

This is really annoying the heck out of me. Maybe I'll run with manual sync for a while and see if it still happens.

Open activesync - Go to Menu-Options - Under Exchange server highlight Email - Click on Settings (Right soft key) and change the time period to 1 month or whatever.

That's one of the first things I check and I set it for ALL so it's not supposed to delete any email unless I delete the item.

I just notice this only happens to the inbox. Other folders outside the inbox do not get stuff deleted.

Check your outlook to see if there is a rule setup to move emails to an archived folder after a week.

If you go to and login to your mail.company.com/OMA (outlook mobile access) and dont see your emails there that means they are not on the server and so they won't show up on your q.

BTW you ever had a blackberry setup with this account before?

igotaq,
I have some rules set up on the server but none for archiving. My auto-archive is set to run every 7 days and 'move' emails older than 21days to my archive folder. When the q deletes it only saves 7 days of data.
Our standard configuration is to keep all mail on the server and there are no retention policies defined.
It will keep mail for a while but it just deletes for no apparent reason.
I have never had a Blackberry.
If it keeps happening I guess I'll just resort to using IE and the webmail aspect.

I've finally figured this out. It turns out that the Q uses both ActiveSync AND WirelessSync.

I never configured the WirelessSync stuff but ran across it in the Start Menu.

It turns out the WirelessSync had Push enabled and was set to only show 7days on the Inbox.

So, I've disabled the WirelessSync push and rely on ActiveSync only. It seems to be doing the trick so far.

you can uninstall it by going to Start-Settings-remove programs.
there should be a program called sync client.
