Default +1 dialing

I have my contact phone numbers in the format (999) 999 9999. I have not been able to figure out how to get my Q to automatically dial 1 in front of that number. Do I have to reformat every contact number? So far I have been manually editing every number when I try to dial it and the Q pukes out but that is a royal PITA. Surely there must be something I have missed.

I'm sure there is something really basic that I am missing but it is a major PITA this way.

So did I (use Outlook to load the contacts to my Q). Are you saying that Outlook put a 1 in front of every number as it sync'd them? It sure didn't in my case but maybe there is an Outlook setting I can mess with.

Why do you need the 1?

if you enter a number in the input field in Outlook it is not added BUT if you instead click the button next to the number (Business, Home..) and then enter the area-code, tab to the next field and add the persons number and then OK it will add the +1 (hope this makes sense)

I have not added a 1 to a call outside my area . . well anywhere . . . in ten years on a mobile phone. i should note that 80% of my calls are to other cities and states . . . no 1
