Very annoying problem...2gb not reading (computer) - Motorola Q Forum

Hello, I have a total of three 2gb sd cards (my dads, mine, and my friends). When I put them into the adaptors and into the card reader, my computer does not read them. The sd will show, but when I click on it it will say that the sd is empty. Also other times it will say that the card needs formating when I click on it, I say ok, and it comes back saying that it is copy protected. The three cards are all different brands-Patriot, Transcend, and Corsair. They all work fine connected though the phone.

-I have tried three different cards, with three different adaptors
-I have tried moving the lock button back and forth, does not help
-a 512mb sandisk sd works in my computer (using its own sandisk adaptor) (it was sent oem from motorola for free because of the misprint in the manuel)
-I tried that sandisk adaptor with my 2gb no go
-I tried the sandisk in my 2gb adaptor and it works

Any ideas?

no three machines Win2000, XP and Vista, same problem on all.

i have had the same issues with sandisk, i think some of he adapters just suck. do you have any problems reading the cards via active sync with the card in your Q. I have a 2 gig card my computer will not recognize unless its in my q

Yeah it works just with the phone. I guess all three of the adapters could be bad? Maybe ill just buy a direct card reader

No the adaptors cant be bad since the 512mb works in them. Well I went and bought a new card reader this one has a direct mini sd slot. It works fine, all is well

hi im having the same problems you were with your 2gb card and i was just wondering what card reader did you purchase to make the card work?

We bought SanDisk MobileMate SD+ from Best Buy, it was under $20.
